Meet Emily Carey, APRN-CNP

Emily is a Family Nurse Practitioner and the founder of NP Apothecary, a wellness practice built around the belief that healthcare should look at the whole person; not just a diagnosis or a set of symptoms.

With a nursing background that includes critical care, urgent care, primary care, geriatric medicine, wound care, and community-based healthcare, Emily brings years of clinical experience to every patient interaction. Her approach combines evidence-based medicine with a thoughtful interest in nutrition, lifestyle, herbal medicine, skincare, and integrative wellness.

At NP Apothecary, Emily works with patients to better understand the why behind how they are feeling. Whether someone is struggling with fatigue, metabolic health, hormone-related concerns, skin health, or simply wants to feel better and become more proactive about their wellness, her goal is to create an individualized plan that feels realistic, understandable, and sustainable.

Emily believes patients deserve time to ask questions, understand their options, and participate in decisions about their health. She created NP Apothecary to provide a more personal healthcare experience, one that combines clinical knowledge with natural and supportive approaches whenever appropriate.

Outside of clinical practice, Emily has a deep interest in gardening, medicinal herbs, botanical skincare, and creating handcrafted wellness products.

My goal is to revitalize your health through functional medicine practices that respect your body's internal biological clock.

My Approach to Care

At NP Apothecary, my approach is grounded in a Compassionate Care Model; care that begins with listening, understanding, and treating you as a whole person rather than a diagnosis or a list of symptoms.

I believe good healthcare requires more than ordering labs and writing prescriptions. It requires time, trust, education, and a genuine partnership between patient and provider. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable asking questions about your health and your options.

I Listen First

Your symptoms matter, but so does your story. I want to understand what you are experiencing, how it is affecting your life, what you have already tried, and what you hope to accomplish.

I look at the whole person

Health is influenced by many interconnected factors, including nutrition, sleep, stress, hormones, metabolism, medications, medical conditions, lifestyle, environment, and emotional well-being. Instead of focusing only on an individual symptom, we look at the bigger picture together.

Shared Decision Model

I believe in shared decision-making. I will explain your options, the potential benefits and limitations, and the cost when possible so that you can make informed choices about your care.

Integrity of Science and Nature

This is not an either/or practice. Evidence-based conventional medicine remains an important part of care. When appropriate, I may also incorporate nutrition, lifestyle interventions, supplements, botanical medicine, and other integrative approaches.

Purposeful Diagnostic Approach

More testing is not always better. We will discuss why a lab or test is being considered and review pricing options before ordering whenever possible. Testing should help answer a clinical question or guide your treatment plan.

I value continuity

My goal is not to provide a single functional medicine consultation and send you back out on your own. I want to build an ongoing patient-provider relationship, follow your progress, adjust your plan when needed, and help you navigate your health over time.

Care Without Pressure

You will not be asked to commit to expensive testing packages, long-term contracts, or a predetermined supplement program simply to become a patient.

Instead, we start with you: your concerns, priorities, medical history, goals, and budget, and build from there.

Because compassionate care isn’t simply about being kind.

It’s about making sure you feel heard, informed, respected, and involved in your own healthcare.
